Vineyard Rebrand

OHUI, an organic vineyard on the Coromandel coast, wanted to refresh their parent brand and create a new sub-brand for their high-end wines. Studies showed that New Zealand consumers linked Maori names to higher quality products, so I worked with a linguist to create the brand name, HUAPONO (the authentic/true fruit). After the name came the design + label applications. The parent brand then followed (there were reasons for this order).

A family of sub-brands

My client's shop offered food in the categories of breads, meats, cheeses, and coffee. Each product was from an organic supplier. The goal was to create individual brands for each supplier that (a) had a personal hand-craft feel (b) would stand up when presented on their own (c) would look like a family of brands when appearing together. We chose to use the FIRST NAMES of each supplier as the pillar of each brand.

Helping Kids

Jenny works with kids who have become crippled with insecurities. Her previous name/logo did not communicate the freedom she was able to give these children and their parents. MENDING WINGS was a name that conveyed the ideas perfectly. The MW/Butterfly idea came to me as I was driving home from work.

As Nature Intended

New Zealand Organic & Natural were creating a new organic milk brand: ANI (As Nature Intended). Along with ANI, NZOA needed a collection of brands and advert applications to show investors that organic milk could open up line extensions into other products.

Branding a Bible College

A Bible college is the coming together of polar opposites. You discover your personal weaknesses, but you also learn that these weaknesses are the prerequisite to making a difference in the world. Unnerving and comforting. While joining contrasting ideas is difficult, it’s worth trying because there is communication magic in the tension. And because the Pathways College brand is largely online, it meant they were not confined to a static presentation of this key idea; online allows for a multiple depictions of that concept.

NZ Shirt Designs

HUNTER BROTHERS (Scott and I) was a company seeking to add some intelligent fun to the T-Shirt market. We noticed that most designs offered very little creative messaging, so we had a shot at it. We sucked at business, but our designs were cool.
